Lokianos was never meant to live with the civilized dragons he was raised with. From the very moment he was born it was evident he'd never belong to the respectable crew his parents were part of. Just like his father, he's been cursed with a shade disease, which can be seen from the scar-like abnormality on his jaw. Despite his thick skin infused with tiny crystals, it's easy to see the mark Lokianos was born with. A slight deformation the color of swampy water, the mark is the exact same shape as his fathers, something that can only be described as a crooked pair of talons with what appear to be gashes through the middle. Had the wretched disease only infected him at certain times - like his father's does - Lokianos wouldn't be nearly as dangerous. Unfortunately, that was not the case for him. Rather than only affecting a part of his brain, the shade has contaminated the vast majority of his mind, making him uncontrollable. Exceptionally easy to anger, you do not want to be in his path when he lashes out. The first time it ever happened he nearly killed one of his fellow crewmates. He was granted a very limited second chance by the Captain, but it only lasted three days. The next time he was set off he ended up twisting an older dragon's leg so badly it had to be amputated, and the other dragon got as close to death as any dragon had been in the history of the ship. The Captain had enough of the uncontrollable young Imperial and exiled him then and there. Threatening him with his life if he didn't leave, Lokianos wasn't having any of it, and in a blind fit of rage challenge the Captain. The challenge never happened, because the crew wouldn't allow it. His mother and father personally escorted him from the ship and away from the absolutely horrified onlookers. His mother disowned him and his father, appalled that his curse could affect one of his offspring in such a way, tried to tell him why he was acting this way. He tried to get his son, his first-born child, to understand how he'd overcome the sickness, and urged his son to try the same. However, Lokianos refused, snapping at Varius and taking off without hearing one more word. Without anyone to control him, Lokianos will without a doubt succumb to the shade illness and end up a beast nearly as formidable as an Emperor- if he doesn't become one of them first. Violent and lawless, he roams Sornieth in search of his next victim, or a Clan that could tolerate (or tame) him. When he came across the Empty Earthquake clan, it was right after an Emperor nearly destroyed them all, that is the only reason he was allowed to stay. The clans population was down to so few compared to their previous number, they needed all the help they could get. The first time Lokianos had an outburst Reina nearly killed him. Her clan was in shattered pieces, they were nearly starving and this interloper nearly killed one of hers? Lokianos was lucky to survive the encounter. She gave him an ultimatum, behave or die, he wasn't going to be someone else's problem. Lokianos adapted and survived, he was bitter and brash, rough in his words to everyone he came across. The clan wanted nothing to do with him in their rebuilding, they told him to go fish for them. There was a storm while he was out there, horrific, it nearly killed him, stranding him for weeks in the middle of the ocean. He only survived because he had the strength to keep swimming, and when he got back? Nobody had looked for him, nobody cared that he disappeared, everyone thought that he just finally left. Nobody would care if he died, he realized, nobody would care if he fell into the sea and never came out. He had to live for himself. He was so angry and alone, he stormed off on his own. That was the first, and hopefully last time he saw an emperor. It was monstrous, a creation of greed and death. His father's warnings came clear in his ears, he could not become that, a 10 headed monster. He decided to be better for himself. He started to work on The Ender Sprite as a fisherman, he already knew how and maybe just maybe he could figure out how to save himself. He will protect this clan, because it's protecting himself. He is dark and constantly is fighting his demons, but he's fighting, he's fighting.Against his nature and perceptions, and people are finally starting to see it, they're finally seeing it. He's learning how to be a good person past the disease and how sometimes he wakes up coughing up black. He thinks it might be his blood, but he's not sure. He's quiet now, preferring not to speak. He has greater control over himself than almost any dragon, almost monklike in quality. He keeps his own company, thinking that if he loses control somebody could get hurt but he won't. What he doesn't seem to comprehend is that he is one of the clan members that has been here the longest, and one of the most loyal they've ever had. He is loved and they worry for him because he doesn't tell them what's going on in that head of his. His fishing boat turned into something different. It turned into a Crew, and he loves them all to death and he isn't so lonely anymore. Quote:
I would never say
I have seen the depths Of the cavern Of my soul But I have gone deep enough And watched Light fade to black This pitch heart Is mine To carry It beats like thunder Rolling, rumbling Soft and distant Then Cacophony I did not ask Your advice Nor your shoulder To carry me This lightning is mine Alone To bottle Day by day I cage it In Leyden jars And hope They will not Shatter by:ixris |
