Eirostle
The Shade Alchemist

It was never too early for the Guardian to begin to dabble in alchemy. She spent hours toiling away in the den of her previous clan, often jumping around with joy as she successfully created a concoction, often knocking over three or four in the process.

When she reached her adolescence a horrible atrocity happened. The leader of her clan, a Ridgeback by the name of Sylaise-- who often fancied climbing to the highest point in the sky in the hopes of seeing the Shade, became Shade-touched, flying in a steep dive before slaughtering her clan. She was only stopped once she had tried to reach the cave where Eirostle had practically grown up, the small dragon throwing down a chemical concoction that burned the crazed dragons scales away, melting and bubbling before the dragon fell with a scream.

Eiro spent days wandering the span of their territory, looking for some sign of life before being chased away by others who sought to take the land for themselves. It wasn't long before she stumbled into the Sunbeam Ruins, collapsing where her new clan would eventually find her.

When she awoke, she groaned, feeling the soft light of the Promenade shining on her face, an unfamiliar feeling. She stretched her wings, seeing the bright light shine through the membranes, making her wings seem more vibrant than ever. Her golden scales seemed to gleam as well. Eirostle was slightly startled, never having seen her scales so vibrant.

"It is always so entertaining watching Shadow dragons see their scales so bright."

She heard the teasing voice behind her, looking and nearly blinding herself. A gleaming Imperial unwound herself from her perch, padding over to her and chuckling. "Welcome, child-- where are you from? And what brings you to our home?"

Eirostle began to cry, pouring out her heart to the Wind dragon, her telling her of all the troubles she had encountered. When she went quiet at the end of her story the dragoness wrapper her wing around her, tugging her close. "This will be your home now." She murmured.

Eiro came before Kindre, the Clan's reigning Matriarch, her wings and tail tucked as she bowed respectfully. The blind Mirror turned to her, opening her maw and letting out a hiss before sitting down. "What is it that you seek by speaking to me?"

The Guardian rose, sinking her talons into the stone to anchor herself before telling the Matriarch of her want.

Matriarchs acted as the ambassador's to the Clan, as well as Protectors, and Diplomats...

And she wanted to be one.

There was no Matriarch for Shadow, so she pleaded her case before the Mirror. When she had finished the fiery dragoness simply looked toward her before opening her mouth.

"Prove your worth to the Clan-- and it shall be done."

Eirostle nodded, bounding away towards her cave on the edge of the territory, asking some of her closest neighbors to bring her food while she was sequestered away, beginning her labour intensive task.

Three days and three nights later, she emerged, holding a scroll delicately in her talons before presenting it to the Mirror, who waved over a Nocturne at the side, the Water Matriarch.

Mathemai peered over the scroll, and Eiro nodded, saying it was for her to use. She brushed a talon against the scroll before her scales seemed to shimmer, brown being cut through with rivulets of blue. The nocturne gasped, looking at how beautiful her scales seemed to become, before stamping her talons excitedly.

The old Matriarch gave a hissing laugh as she heard the other's excitement before letting out a roar to silence those in attendance.

"Very well, you have proven yourself to be a invaluable asset to the Clan-- from here forth, you are Eirostle, Matriarch of Shadow...

The Shade Alchemist."
