She found her way before the Starsweep. A dragon frozen in time, she fell to the ground from the starry skies above the Plateau like a comet hailing the earth, and was born again. Though technically older than her mentors, she was seen by all of the clan as younger for her rebirth. A perfectly pink young dragon, steeped heavily in arcane energies and their powers. But for her soft beauty, she was rugged, and crass, and so for that, they named her Nyfin. Amnesiac, she holds no memory of her birth or any time before her fall. In some bitterness for having lost her life before, proud Arcanite, she struck out against the native wind dragons often. It was as if she thought they called her to earth here on the Plateau. Gallia was best at reeling her in, but by the time the dancer was cast out, she had new leashes about her neck. It’s a begrudging truce, but one she follows of her own accord.

After some time, Nyfin found her place among the clan’s strongest warriors, wielding her magics through her claws. Sriracha was her mentor, but she ended up surpassing him, and rubbing the self seen victory in his face, much to his own pride. She became the new trainer for the clan, stronger and sturdier against the Mire’s dangers than he ever was. He would go to reteach himself, and she would claim a throne amongst her clanmates. Her training was recognized for what it was: ruthless, but effective. If the young soldiers did not learn quickly, their limp bodies would be dragged through the muck until they came to enough to get back on their feet, only to be made to fight again. Fall too many times, and you had to clean her coat upon returning to the lair in the Marnal Bvetse.

The Starsweep would come, and Nyfin would find herself in the favor of those grand Ancestrals. A powerful child of arcane power, with loyalty to her element. She would do well under them. She kept her role as trainer, and became the one to handle the Warbound and Warborn. At first, she relished in the job and the praise, but as time passed, the crying of the Warbound began to wear on her, and she became even more withdrawn than she was before. None can come near but the Ancestrals and their messengers. Those with keener hearing claim they hear them disciplining her. The deaf and keen alike act ignorant. Some say she is growing softer, as her trainees are no longer seen cleaning her coat, and neither do they carry bruises and scrapes from her reprimands. But none have yet had the guts to call her on it. |
