Biography
Caithe is a sylvari firstborn of the Cycle of Night, and a member of Destiny's Edge. While most sylvari are creatures of light, Caithe has never feared gazing into darkness to seek truths others fear. A Valiant of the Pale Tree, Caithe was given the Wyld Hunt to slay the Elder Dragon Zhaitan upon her awakening.
When the sylvari race was young, most of the firstborn stayed to tend the Mother Tree, but Caithe and Faolain dared to see the world. Over time, they established a deep bond and became lovers. Caithe was present when Cadeyrn brought Faolain into Nightmare, but when Faolain made her decision, Caithe shirked, and the two were forever separated. Now, Caithe stands on the edge of Nightmare, refusing to join Faolain but unable to ever truly leave her.
Caithe is a founding member of Destiny's Edge, and was the individual who first brought Logan and Rytlock together. Years after the death of Snaff, in 1325 AE, Caithe made several attempts to reform the group, and was unsuccessful at first. After the members resolved their differences, they joined the Pact aboard the Glory of Tyria in battle against Zhaitan, and in the skies above Arah Caithe finally completed her Wyld Hunt.
A year later, Caithe was invited to the Twilight Arbor by Scarlet Briar, who had struck up an alliance with the Nightmare Court. Scarlet claimed to have learned of some "nasty" indiscretion of Caithe's that not even Faolain knew about, and threatened to reveal it to the world. Caithe was captured by Scarlet, who seemed to have some sort of plan for her, but Scarlet's Clockheart was defeated before this plan could come to fruition. Caithe vowed to hunt down Scarlet, and began her new hunt.
After the destruction of Lion's Arch and the awakening of the Elder Dragon Mordremoth, Caithe reunited with Destiny's Edge to help the Pact defeat this new threat. When news of a dragon's egg emerged upon finding the Master of Peace, Caithe was immediately interested in the Commander's mission to find the Zephyrites leader. Once the Master of Peace was found, he was revealed to be carrying one of Glint's eggs, which Caithe immediately seized and fled with. After receiving assistance from the Pale Tree the Commander follows many clues from Caithe's past to find out where she, and the egg, went. At the end of the final vision, the Commander confronts Caithe during Point of No Return after the secret about sylvari is discovered. She confirms that everything is true, but refuses to hand over the dragon egg, feeling it is too valuable and insisting that she is still on the same side as the Commander. Soon after, the Shadow of the Dragon attacks the Commander, cutting them off from their other allies. And in the chaos of the battle, Caithe escapes once again.
