______ Athens is a kind and gentle leader. She is a loving mother and loves her mate Cloud dearly. Athens is very understanding and a good listener. Though her desire to travel sometimes itches at her scales, she would never leave her clan or its members. Athens hates confrontation above all else, it is one of her more obviously flaws as leader. She prefers compromise over having to make a concrete choice when it comes to her clan mates. She tries to please everyone, which puts a great deal of stress on her

______ Athens was born in the land of shadows and lived in a clan that valued loyalty and bloodline above all else. All of her family had settled down with a mate early and life others left to serve the great Shadowbinder. Athens was different. The fun loving and adventurous dragon wasn't ready to settle down and had no intention to leave to serve the Shadowbinder. Left with no other choice she left her clan in hopes of joining a new one.

Only hours into her journey she stumbled along an injured dragon. The imperial male had fallen from a cliff side, he had obviously lost his way. A very easy thing to do in the tangled wood. Athens, with little knowledge of healing bandaged the un-conscious dragons wounds and cleaned of the now drying blood with water soaked moss. One yellow eye of the dragon opened and then the other. Drowsily, the imperial introduced himself as Cloud. He explained to Athens that he had traveled a long way from the realm of light to explore the world. Athens was immediately intrigued by this and the two of them talked endlessly about his travels. While Cloud healed Athens hunted for him and changed the bandages on his wounds. In return Cloud would tell of his travels. He gave her a scarf he bought from a sales dragon in the wind flight. Athens told him she would treasure it for as long as she lived. The two became the best of friends. To Cloud, Athens was the best friend and companion he had always hoped for and To Athens, Cloud became her rock to lean on.and Trustworthy friend. Not only that, but Athens had begun to fall in love with him.

After days of travel through the depths of the tangled wood Athens and her companion Cloud came across a clan.The dragons were rather friendly and all quite young.They too had ventured from there clans, a few had even come from different flights all together, some from Ice, others from Plague. They quickly realized this clan was without a leader. According to Acia, a dragon who ventured from wind, the two leaders of this clan had vanished leaving the clan to fend for themselves. Acia also mentions the many dragons who left due to the clans constant fighting over who should be leader since no one really wanted to. Acia pleaded with the two dragons to stay in there nameless clan. To help them. After much thought Cloud and Athens agreed to stay for a short time.

Without realizing it the two became the clans leaders, though not officially. They got to know the eccentric dragons of the clan and helped them sort out their differences. Soon the fights lessened as Athens became the kind peacekeeper. Hatchlings were trained better and food become plentiful with more dragons of various skill to scavenge. Thanks to Cloud being an excellent teacher to both young and old. Soon other travelers settled down with them, including a very intelligent healer named Thali. The clan agreed that Cloud and Athens were perfect leaders and held a party in their honor and ask them to become there leaders

Cloud and Athens were faced with a tough choice. To leave their life as travelers and settle down, the one thing neither of them wanted to do? Or leave the clan that they had come to care for.The home and friends they had. As the young dragons talked the more they realized they were happy here. And maybe they needed this clan as much as the clan needed them. However it was another reason that helped them in the final choice to stay. Athens was to become a mother to Clouds children. The two had fallen in love in there time as un-official leaders.

The next morning came the announcement. Athens and cloud became the leaders of the clan. There clan mates were over joyed to hear the new sand even more excited over the new hatchlings of Cloud and Athens. They sang and chanted. They laughed and cheered they were a true clan, a true family.There was one last thing they needed. A name. Cloud looked over the dragoons, wings and scales of different colors. We will be the Bright wings clan! he proclaimed and the dragons cheered so loud that Shadowbinder could hear them. A new clan had been born.

Sometime later, Cloud and Athens realized there home in the shadows had grown to small, and there clan to large. Another issue had aroused as well. The Bright Wings clan lived up to their name. The darkness of the tangled wood did not hide them well, they had no camouflage. Acia, second in command, suggested they make a move to a new flight, one that suited them better. When the clan agreed with the proposal they migrated to the Wind flight.
