Soliel
➳ Sun Priestess

Soliel was raised in a matriarchal clan in which the worship of the Sun itself, rather than the Lightweaver, was practiced. Her mother was the High Priestess of the Sun in the clan, an absolutely massive guardian, supposedly capable of blotting out the sun with her wings. Or so Soliel was told. She never truly believed the stories, but she never actually had any reason to believe otherwise. Her mother was always busy as the High Priestess, so Soliel was raised by one of the lower priestesses of the clan.

She grew up to be a graceful and kind, but also forceful and strong. She was given a choice when she was old enough - stay in her old clan to become the next High Priestess after her mother passes, or venture out into the world and start her own clan. While she really didn't want to run an entire clan at all, Soliel never minded the idea of merely leading a small group of followers in another clan. To her, the choice was obvious and so she set out into the world to find a home where she could build up a small group of followers.

Just before leaving, her mother - who truly was a guardian of impressive stature - presented Soliel with an amulet. She was told this amulet was the catalyst of the High Priestess of the Sun's powers, and that her mother had this new one made especially for her. Upon donning the amulet, she could feel the warm power surge through her and kick up a small wind, carrying with it a few loose pieces of grass. Soliel said her final farewells and set out from the Sunbeam Ruins, into the rest of the world. For a while, she wandered throughout Sornieth, visiting libraries, learning about other dragons' religions, and sitting in on other religious ceremonies when invited.

It was in a library where Soliel met one of the Keepers of the Stars. Sabik had been trading for a few of the owner's extra copies of books and seemed to have picked out more than he could fly back to the islands. Soliel, wanting to help the Imperial, offered to help him fly the books back to his library. He reluctantly accepted, however the two became close friends on the long journey to the Keepers' islands. Taken aback by the absolute beauty of the island chain, Soliel immediately sought out the leaders of the clan, asking if she could make a home for herself and a center for whatever following she may create on one of the other islands in the chain.

It's on that island that she is slowly constructing her golden courtyard. Large statues of Golden Reefprinces, the messengers of the Sun, watch over the circular plaza. Her simple home sits high above, atop a tall spire at the eastern most side of the courtyard. The entire area sparkles with painfully obtained and carefully lain gold and jewels. While not often visited by most memebers of the clan, worshipers of the sun and followers of Soliel can often be found milling about the plaza, trading, chatting, or simply laying about to soak up the sun. Soliel is proud of the area and the small gathering of followers she attracted, as each dragon took an oath of kindness and nonviolence, and not one has yet violated their pledge.

It was one blessed sunny day that Soliel met her mate. Valkyrie had been passing through the island chain with a group of travelers, acting as a guard for them. She was approached by the Tundra, who humbly asked if she could be allowed to convert and become the first of Soliel's followers. The Guardian happily approved, and soon Valkyrie was initiated into the Followers of the Sun. As time passed, the two grew steadily closer, going from amazing friends to near synchronized lovers. Soliel adores Valkyrie for her strength and dedication to the cause, and is sure to make sure the other knows of this.
