Though he is cold, Lulu also sees Shatter as a close friend. She kept the name originally given to her by her old Clan.

Lulu always had an air of destiny about her. She was gifted with magic beyond the scope that her clan was accustomed to and it scared them. Even from a young age she was controling and changing shadows, using them to do as she wished. With a little direction she was weaving spells and casting her magic where the clan needed her to. There were those that were afraid of her power, afraid of what it meant. They begged the leader to send her away to the Shadowbinder where she could use her magic for war, but he wouldn't. They were too afraid to bully her, but scared enough to exclude her. Those who didn't embrace her gift spoke behind her back, whispered when they didn't think she could hear, but she could. She ignored them, aware of how they felt and understanding why. So long as they left her alone she didn't mind. There were plenty of others in the clan that were happy to speak to her, happy to share their magical knowedge. But there weren't enough to save her when the current clan leader perished. The new leader sent her and several others off to serve their patron diety. He said it was the betterment of the clan and the Flight. The Dark Mother needed reinforcements to beat back the encroaching Beastclans. Lulu had her reservations but was excited to meet the Shadowbinder in person. Her magics was in high demand, and Lulu was starstruck for all of five minutes before she was thrust into a random squad and forced to the front lines. She did her best to hold the vanguard, but her squad was falling back and being overrun. If it weren't for an Ice wildclaw named Frostbite, she would have died with the rest of her squad. He snatched her from the claws of death and fled with her. As far as anyone knew, they had both died in the border skirmish. Lulu was injured, but alive. Frostbite had been in the midst of absconding into the chaos when he'd rescued her. It was his third battle, and he'd had enough. Serving a diety was of the highest honor, but he was a Ice dragon at heart and refused to die for a diety that wasn't his own. When they were far out of Shadow territory, they stopped to tend wounds. After speaking for some time, they decided to flee to Ice terriroty where few dared to tread. It was the safest place to go into exile, for if any dragon discovered they had deserted, it would mean certain death or imprisonment. In their travels, Lulu realized they would need allies if they were to survive. Frostbite knew the ice territories well, but agreed. |
