He’s not quite sure what first pulled him towards the darker aspects of magic. Perhaps it was the typical happy, carefree life of a Wind dragon he wanted to escape, or maybe the acceptance the Windswept Plateau extended to almost anything, no matter how weird or different, or maybe it was simply his curiosity. Regardless, Cygnus fell for the charm of the darkest of magics the moment he opened the first dark magic book he had coincidentally found.

Both he and his magic have grown since that day and Cygnus can proudly declare himself an expert on black magic in its many forms – soul magic, blood magic, Shade magic, you name it. Cygnus is the picture of a mad genius – very, very immoral, overly curious, scatterbrained and spontaneous. He loves experimenting and explosions are a daily occurrence in whatever cave he’s decided to hole up in that day.

His experimental spells and potions have a tendency to backfire, but failure (or lost limbs, but those can be regenerated) doesn’t deter him. He likes to live up to the “mad scientist” label and gleefully courts death with his many experiments. His words tend to not makes sense as he is often going through calculations and muttering theories under his breath even when not engaged in questionable practices. He’s well aware that what he is doing is immoral, but cares little.

He puts up a mask of cold indifference when faced with such accusations, but if you push him too far or insult one of his creations he’ll show his dark side. Cygnus’ magic skills are sharp and deadly. He knows dozens of ways to get rid of his enemies in seconds or to prolong their suffering. Cygnus is the terror of any lone travellers at night. He does need test subjects, after all, and fresh volunteers are so hard to find nowadays!
