You're not a King until you've taken a throne.

Ascaris was born weak, a heresy in the Scarred Wasteland. Small even for a Fae, he lacked physical or magical power. With every new illness or injury, he hovered perilously close to death.

His mind, however, was honed by years of introspection into a cold, hard thing, ready to seize the smallest piece of power. As soon as he reached adulthood, he left his clan, barely missed, and travelled in search of a new home. He chose to travel first to the west, into the Starfall Isles, but he was dissatisfied with what he found and turned to leave.

As he crossed through the Starwood Strand, he stumbled into a small recess, which on further inspection led to a deep tunnel. Inside, he found what he at first thought the clan of his dreams, but he was soon confronted with the dangerous reality of his new home. When he tried to leave, however, the entrance he used had mysteriously vanished, and he could find no other way out. Defied by the magic of the lair, he chose to stay and made the best of his situation.

He manipulates and controls those living in the upper tunnels to gain power and influence. Already, the clan looks to him for guidance. Those who do not trust him so easily are played against each other with an expert hand.
