Nourer
"A kind dragon is a dead dragon...right?" Prickly as a cactus, Nourer does not allow many to draw close to him. He tends to take most actions as an offense, and to see the worst in those around him. However, he recently has been trying to understand that not every dragon is out to get him and make him the fool. Though he still maintains a cold unwillingness to trust, he is much more willing to get to know other dragons than before. His parents spent most of his youth trying to disabuse him of the notion that a kind dragon is a dead dragon. They would doubtlessly be delighted with his progress. Nourer is immeasurably patient and willing to wait for any prey to fall into his claws. Once, he merely hunted for himself and gave the scraps to any scavengers nearby. Unfortunately, this strategy got him into some trouble when he joined the Agency, and he quickly learned to share more generously. Nourer considered himself unlovable. He didn't try to fit in; rather, he lived his bitter life on the outskirts of Clan life. Lately, though, he's been taking an interest in what goes on around him. When he first arrived, life at the Agency for Re-Homing Dragons suited him perfectly. He didn't need to live on the outskirts; here was no center to avoid. No one talked to him, and he didn't bother to show interest in them. Until, that is, Nourer was asked to join his host clan's hunting team. At first, he was eager only to be free of the confines of the Agency, and to catch some Light aligned insects. Unfortunately for Nourer, the Mirror he was hunting with took extreme offense at his selfishness, and made plenty sure the Pearlcatcher knew it. From then on, Nourer was more careful to share most (though not all) of his findings with his host clan. After a while, his host clan came to recognize Nourer. They'd greet him after a hunt, and ask how it went. Nourer once assumed these inquiries were purely pragmatic. But as time passed, and as Nourer himself came to know their names, he began to wonder if perhaps this wasn't the case. Though he never made real friends at the Agency, after a long time he started to think he might like one. It was an entirely new thought for him, and took him completely by surprise. In fact, it took him a good week before he managed to talk to Agency counselor Arcturus about it. When he did, both agreed it might be time for Nourer to find his permanent home. Currently, he spends his time hunting and wondering about what life in yet another clan would be like. |
