Biography

Cherine commands the scouting parties and is the resident cartographer. Everyone in the lair who does not protect the lair, mine, gather food, craft or care for the nests is treated as a scout and therefore under her command. They mostly map the Carrion Canyon, taking note of any recently changed areas or new, unexplored caverns. Lightbug and Azurite, however, usually 'map' the insides of the spires, looking for broken or faulty machinery. Rine makes them wear copper, just in case they accidentally touch something they shouldn't, hoping that the metal will conduct most of the electricity away from them.

The Carrion Canyon did not get it's name easily, and every time a scouting team goes out, usually someone will at least get hurt, if not worse. These deaths and injuries weigh very heavily on Cherine, even though up to date maps are needed if the dragons of the clan are to ever gather materials on the Highlands. While she knows that it's dangerous and hates the fact that she sends dragons to survey that area, she also knows that the clan needs the information, or even more suffering will come. Dragons who would call her work pointless will find the whole lair turning on them in a flash.

Though it is described by most as arid and unforgiving, the Highlands are actually one of the only places on the Shifting Expanse that have any materials and food worth gathering. Without going through the Canyon, gathering parties would have to go around, through Fire and Light flight lands, adding days onto their expeditions.

She can be slightly neurotic and obsessive over time and the weather, but her heart is always in the right place. She is respected by most dragons in the lair, though some can find her attention to detail a touch exasperating. She and Sarahi get on especially well. Sarahi is usually the one who is hanging around Cherine when the scouting groups are out and Cherine is worrying; Sarahi is fairly good at calming her.
