When off duty he is often found lingering by the lairs aviary. he has a lot of fond curiosity for the numerous snowy pale crows kept there, who's feather colourations match his own downy white fur. although he doesn't get up and personal with them (and is too proud to admit he would like to), he watches from afar and sometimes if noone is around to see, he will perch nearby and sketch the birds in his note book. he likes to give each crow a different personality and weaves comics of the characters in ink and crayon of their stupid shenanigans As most people do, he finds his art to be a good way to vent, especially for him though as he doesn't like to share any of his personal stuff with anyone else so he forces his emotions down and hides behind a coolkid facade. this makes him come off as calm and detatched from situations and it can make him a bit unnerving to be around at times because it's so hard to read what he's feeling His best friend, john doesn't ever seem fazed by him though. the both of them had been by each others side for so long, john had learned the subtle ways to read his best buds emotions, even though he's not even consciously aware that he's doing it. They both came to this lair together, dave came for the peace of mind. having grown up in such a forbidding and dangerous land, teaming with death and disease and with the memories of the dragon who took him in and raised him lingering in the stagnant air, he had to get away from it all. john didn't know about his home life, and dave would never be truly willing to tell anyone. he had been raised by a wildclaw who he called his brother (even though they weren't actually related). one who had taught him how to fight and would force dave into dangerous situations for him to prove himself to him. dave always knew if it got too bad, his bro would always be there to sweep in and take the reigns of the situation but he was still aways pressured to prevent that from happening. |

Dave's childhood was anything but normal. He was raised by a bounty hunter he called his brother, who'd took him under his wing when he was a hatchling. and from as young as he can remember his brother would batter him endlessly in unceasing tests to prove his worth. with him being a kid and them constantly being on the move he had noone to show him how messed up it was. To him his brother's word was law and his judgement was the only thing that mattered. To not be good enough in his brothers eyes was to not be worthy of life. The dude was emaculate and precise and absolutely unstoppable. Nothing messes with Dave's bro, 'less it wants to be brought down beneath his blade. And that included dave. Nomatter how many times his brother forced him to fight, Dave could never win. Even situations where he was made to fight some other target, again and again, there would always be some kind of tiny mistake or slip up that would end him getting beaten to high hell. one wrong step, one wrong show of emotion, one wrong calculation and that's all it took to lose. And then his brother would have to swoop in to save him, and he would look at him with those cold unemotive eyes, betraying no thoughts but also crushing Dave's entire universe under the weight of his gaze. He would never say anything but Dave knew. He could always tell when he had shown he was nothing more than a dissapointment in his brothers eyes. He spent most of his childhood this way, fight after fight with whatever was thrown his way, landing him with bruises and scars and a personality of shut off coolness. Too often he found himself lying awake at night tracing his hands over the marks of his failures, body clenched tight as he tried to fight off his own frustration with himself. He was okay, he told himself, everything was meant to be this way, and one day he was going to get better and be just as awesome as his bro, even if it meant he had to shut off his emotions completely. If becoming a dragon of complete robotic clockwork precision was what it took then so be it. |
