➽ SYSTOLE
A Tight Grip, A Tight Squeeze... "Awaken, my child... Show me what you would like to become." called the Shadowbinder, looking down to the pulsating, glowing cloud of deep maroon mist, intertwined with thick black smog. A small, curious sound comes from the cloud, though it knows one thing; it must make itself a form, in order to please its' creator... And so it does. The smog and mist combine, and they come together to form... a Nocturne... No words are spoken, throughout the darkness lies a dead silence... until the newly formed dragon opens her eyes, staring up at the Shadow goddess with the very same violet eyes that her entire realm shares. "...very good, my dear. You have passed the test your brothers before you have failed." the larger female stated, to which the smaller replied "A female must be the one to succeed, for males that try such a feat will always fail." A small hum from the Goddess, though the following silence did not last. "...Systole." she murmured, a small tilt of the Nocturne's head following. "That is your new name..." she added... ...and the smaller took in a breath, replying "And I shall wear it well, Mother."  Born of the blood of the Shadowbinder, and named for one of the crucial movements of a beating, living heart, Systole is much larger than most of her species... though that doesn't mean she's nothing to be feared. This Nocturne is anything but normal... her form shifts during the night, when she is surrounded by nothing but blackness... She returns to the form she held before taking that of a dragon, though what she is seen as depends on who you ask. Some say a creature so elegant and beautiful that more than a glance will blind the onlooker, others claim a demonic being so horrific and foul that even the thought is enough to cause constant night terrors. Systole is no stranger to magic, for she formed her mate Diastole with her own blood, sweat and a lot of effort. Of the two, it's a surprise to say that while she's much smaller than her mate, Systole is the one more vicious, easily angered and the one that will pick a fight over a wrong glance. To see her fight is something no living being should witness, as she keeps her shimmering scales vibrant by bathing in the blood of her enemies, or... as Diastole calls them, her victims. Not only that, but after absorbing what she can through her scales, she'll consume the rest, and the bodies she leaves behind. Pick your battles wisely... one named for constriction would know how to keep your body from ever relaxing again. |
