As winter fell over Sornieth, Ash's parents, growing hungry and weak from a famine in the clan, produced a single, strikingly small egg. The loneliness of the egg itself was concerning for the survival of the clan, and a source of shame for it's parents. When the egg hatched, the infant that emerged was as bleak and pale as the blizzard outside, scrawny and devoid of any the vibrance that marked her kind. The clan whispered of the omen she brought, and soon feared her presence was to blame for the misfortunes and the lives lost in the cold winter of her birth, and she was driven from her home.

Ash learned quickly to brave the cold and the beasts of the ice fields on her own, growing into a solitary warrior full of bravery and resolve. Eventually, Ash came to serve under Pine as a skilled warrior. Her loyalty is unquestionable, however, she is often cold and slow to trust.
