Ross's colors were once bright, reflecting the sun which shone upon the Light flight every day. From a young age, Ross has been surrounded by magic all his life. Living in the Light flight gave him opportunities to learn spells from the local Clans there, and his skill grew. Over time, he grew so powerful he was able to defeat opponents with only one spell. He became well-known, and his ego grew.

It was then an evil dragon came to him and challenged him to a duel. It was a Shade-touched dragon, a rare sight to be seen among the Light Flight. The conditions of the duel was that if Ross won, he was free to kill the evil dragon. But if he lost, his soul would be corrupted and his scales would turn dark, like his soul. Confident that he would win, Ross accepted.

The battle raged on, and through dirty tricks the evil dragon managed to defeat Ross. The Skydancer's soul was corrupted, and his colors turned dark to what they are now, reflecting the night instead of the day. With his new colors came a change in attitude; he was no longer kind and benevolent, instead he became ruthless and cruel. The other Clans had no choice but to drive him out of the Light flight to prevent him from killing everyone.

For the next several weeks, Ross traveled the nation, getting chased out of flight after flight. Eventually he stumbled upon Queen Eythe and King Armen's Clan. Wanting to have a bit of fun, he easily defeated the Warriors and the Guards, terrorizing the Clan.

He had entered the Clan's lair, murdering all he came across, making his way to the heart of the Clan. Suddenly, a beam of wind shot towards him, and barely dodging it, the Skydancer looked around to see who had cast the spell. To his surprise, it was a pink Fae with blue wings and light green eyes.

"You are intruding on my territory." The fae stated, hovering in front of him. Even though the tiny dragon's voice was monotone, its face still showed emotion, something rare for a fae; and that emotion was rage. "Leave now, or I will not hesitate to kill you."

Ross smirked. "Have you forgotten one thing, little fae? Wind dragons are vulnerable towards the Light element." To prove his point, he shot out his own spell - a powerful beam of light that was almost blinding - towards the dragon.

All of a sudden, a green shimmering barrier formed over the fae, protecting it and reflecting the beam back at the Skydancer! Ross quickly dodged to the side, and the attack shot past him, scorching the ground where he once stood. Looking to the right, he saw a large green female Guardian standing beside the Fae, a snarl on her lips.

"That may be true, Skydancer." She spat, light green eyes narrowed as she stalked forwards, tail lashing. "But we have defeated many enemies with your element. Compared to them, you're weak. You're as strong as an Ember Mouse."

Before Ross could react, the Guardian used an ability that only Wind dragons are capable of; Disorient. The Skydancer was immediately dizzy, and fell to the ground, his body not obeying what his mind wanted it to do. He struggled to stand, snarling with rage, but the few surviving Guards still able to move pinned him down, restraining him.

"He's infected with the Shade." He heard the Guardian say, resent in her voice. "We have to do this quickly, otherwise it'll kill him." What he heard next was a language he couldn't understand, even with his vast knowledge of dragon tongues, and he felt a piercing pain in his entire body. His mind felt like it was going to explode, and as he fell unconscious the last thing he heard was his own screaming in his ears.

When he awoke, the first thing he saw was a female Skydancer. She introduced herself as Caitel, the Clan's Healer. Ross felt sore, and he was still slightly dizzy.

"Wh- where's the Guardian?" He croaked, and Caitel gave him a small smile.

"You mean Queen Eythe? She's in the throne room right now, discussing what to do with you." Her smile faded, then. "You were lucky." She said softly. "Even though you survived the Cleansing, many of the surviving members in the Clan want you dead. The Queen and King protected you, saying that now the Shade is gone, you won't have any evil in your soul. In a way, you've been purified of any darkness that had a hold over you."

Ross was silent, deep in thought. Even though his scales had stayed the same dark colors, he no longer felt the urges to be cruel and uncaring as he had before. Instead, he just felt relieved. He was relieved to be alive.

He turned his head at the sound of pawsteps entering the small cave, and saw the form of the green Guardian moving towards him. Caitel the Healer bowed her head at the sight of her Clan leader, and Queen Eythe nodded back. Then she turned her gaze on him.

"Skydancer, I see you're awake."

Ross nodded. She was staring at him, unblinking, and he found himself unable to look away from her gaze. It was as though she was staring into his soul, searching it for any traces of the Shade. After a few moments of silence she blinked, breaking the spell, and she snorted.

"You are now free of the Shade. You are free to go wherever you please, whether it be far away from here or not. If you choose to leave, you will not be allowed to return and I will personally kill you if you set a paw here again." She paused, flicking her tail. "However, if you choose to stay, you will find that there are many here that want to kill you. It will be difficult to gain their trust, even though you're no longer under the influence of the Shade. But if you want to stay, I will give you a job, and I won't allow any harm to come to you." She turned away, padding to the entrance of the cave. "Have Caitel tell me with your answer at the end of the day. What is your name, Skydancer?"

"Ross. My name is Ross."

Ross thought about her offer, and in the end he decided to stay. He wanted to help rebuild the Clan he'd torn apart. Most of the Clan distrusts him, calling him names and often spitting whenever they see him. He was given the job of Mage, then under King Armen's tutoring he rose to the rank of Head Mage. He often sits alone, or talks with Caitel when she comes to check on him. His nickname is the "Sly One."

The Skydancer is no longer cruel, but is grumpy and quick to be irritated. He snaps at those that make "stupid questions", or bother him when he's studying. Regardless, he has decided to take on an apprentice and is teaching him to become a great mage such as himself.
