The dark-skinned, golden haired boys were property of the traveling cirque, paid in scraps. Growing up alongside his brother Luka was the only reason Miko had not died, as morbid as that may sound. As far as he could remember, their childhood had been filled with hunger and pain and sadness - but never fear, and that was all because of Luka. They had gotten the "jobs" at the cirque because of Luka negotiating his way in, bargaining with the master. They did not like selling their gifts, but it was better than being dead. At least this way they could eat.

Then they lost each other. Miko never stopped looking for his brother, who had disappeared one day and never came back. Almost ten years had passed since then. He had become a tall young man with broad shoulders, dancing on rooftiles of the Glass City with his nimble feet as he silently watched the people below. Miko had joined the Watchers, aptly named for their occupation of watching and reporting misdeeds to the Valkyrie. But every now and then a shadow would catch his eye, and he would chase after it, hoping his twin would be there.
