The captain of the Knights. Essex leads them with a cold, iron fist, commanding respect from them thorough his efficiency and pragmatism. He is difficult to converse with mainly because of his aloof attitude and one-word answer/grunts, which is further aggravated by his busy schedule. Not many people know what Essex was like when he was younger, except his deputies, mate, and the leaders.

SongSteel & Kokiri | Deputies
Essex and Kokiri grew up together in the same clan and they shared a friendly rivalry. In their youth, they talked about serving the Gladekeeper, but Kokiri realized he didn't want to serve a deity, but a mortal. The two parted ways with Essex joining the ranks of Nature's divinity and Kokiri heading to the Arena. They would later cross paths when Essex began travelling with Aer and Red and he found himself a participant in the Arena. It was also when he first met SongSteel. Nowadays, the three of them are typically seen together with the deputies often getting on Essex's nerves. But their shared experience in the Arena created a bond that can not be broken. |

- Incapable of flight, can only glide for a short period of time thanks to his artificial wings
- Was in the same clan as Kokiri before he went to serve the Gladekeeper
- Good friends with his deputies (SongSteel and Kokiri)
- Is the only person who can put up with his deputies' antics on a daily basis
- Has a permanent ‘I’m so done with your sh*t’ look on his face
- Served the Gladekeeper until he was exiled for reasons he won’t say
- The vines and roots on his body tighten and cause him pain if he’s near followers of Gladekeeper
- Leader of the Knights, a group of individuals tasked to slay those who endanger the clan; they often go on raids for supplies and members typically take on assassination jobs.
