Very little is known of Keiei's past and where the Light Dragon comes from. This is mostly due to the fact that no one has ever heard Keiei speak a word--when he chooses to communicate it is via an obscure sign language or via written messages. His communications with Seirei are said to be entirely telepathic, but Seirei doesn't always divulge what he's saying to those around who can't hear him speak.

When he appeared before the Edge of the Wyld Clan, Keiei was at Seirei's side when she informed them that there would be an attack on their home led by a person they were very close to. At first, no one wanted to believe Seirei and Keiei stepped up to protect his Seeress from what looked like it may be an attack, but her words were proven true when the Shadow Hunters descended upon the clan during the feast to celebrate the Autumn Equinox.

It is partially to Keiei's credit that they found a place amongst the clan for once he was sure that his charge was safe, Keiei stepped up to defend the dragons he'd never met before the night of the attack. Because of his assistance fewer members of the clan died.

He stood by Seirei's side as River and McNair presented a case to Kinya on the reasons why Seirei should not be allowed to stay within the Edge of the Wyld clan. He was also there when Faewyld, Murasaki, and Midoriyama gave all the reasons why Seirei should be welcomed amongst the clan.

It isn't known how exactly Kinya came to her final decision, but the Fae agreed to let the two stay and had to deal with a rift between her and her two closest friends until Seirei and Keiei proved beyond a doubt that they would be useful to the clan.

According to Seirei, the black wolf, Garou, has been with Keiei since 'time immemorial' and the Guardian has indicated that he's had the wolf since he himself was a hatchling long ago via a written message when people were initially asking questions of the two.
