Briarfern is a gruff but grudgingly softhearted dragon who tends to keep to himself. He came into the clan at a very young age, a runaway informally adopted into its ranks. Lavellan trained him to identify plants, and now he prefers to spend most of his time deep in the woods, foraging for the clan.

There are some exceptions to his aloof nature, however -- especially his childhood friend Nightwhisper. Although he sighs and grumbles and pronounces Nightwhisper hopeless, he's always there to bring him back safely when he wanders too far from home. Indeed, now some of his time in the woods is spent with Nightwhisper smiling and chatting and twining flowers around his horns... if he has any complaints about this, his heart isn't in them.

He's still rather shy, though, and doesn't like to express his affection in public. He cares a lot about Nightwhisper and the rest of the clan. It's just easier for him to show it when there aren't so many eyes on him.
