Biography
The young dragon approached Wandering Gale territory and skirted the edge for several days, hunting and fishing adequately as well as enjoying green shoots, and making himself known. Then promptly he quit his activities of subsistence and winged his way with some of the clumsiness of youth to the center of clan territory, where he presented himself to Larch and Juniper.
"I've heard whispers of your clan's hospitality," was what he had to say for himself. He spoke in a hoarse voice, as though there was phlegm trapped in his throat. "I thought to see it for myself."
"If you are healthy and carry no contagion, you are welcome to make your way here for as long as you wish," said Larch, with a pointed glance at the red growths bubbling up on his silvery hide.
"Mineral deposits from the seawater," he said.
"Nevertheless," and so he went to Juniper. As she inspected the dragonet he looked up at her innocently. "A dragon from the wandering contagion, in charge to see the health of one from the Sea of a Thousand Currents?"
Juniper looked down at him and knew it for the slur it was. She raised one clawed forepaw and struck him across the face with it. The blood that welled up was the same color as his growths, she noted. He made only a small noise, face turned to the side. Even in the Wandering Gale, mostly made up of friendly dragons, positions had to be defended.
"Your name?" she said, when she determined he carried nothing malevolent or infectious after all.
"I came from my home without one," he said.
"As you are a creature of water and have adopted yourself to a clan of air, I name you Curlew," she said. "A bird that straddles the boundaries of both elements."
He bowed his silvery head and accepted the name. Then he made his dens in Wandering Gale's waterways, and he's hardly left them since.
A mysterious dragon. Even the noctivagant eccentrics Susurrous and Vespertine have more friendly connections than he. He keeps to himself, fishes the clan waters, and adds to the stores. Why he chose Wandering Gale to be home is yet unknown and may never be known.
