Master of Tomes

At first, most were surprised by Dove's appointment to Master of Tomes, overseer of the grand Silverwick Archives, as many expected her to lead the legion of ambassadors directly, but over time none would question it. Orion was wise when it came to organizing his court. Dove had always been a studious dragon, shunned by her peers as a hatchling due to the pale colors she was born with. Having lived her formative years with no friends other than those bound in paper and ink, she developed a dream for peace. Peace that could only come from knowledge and communication. So she continued to read, and left her home to find a place where she could study without such a painful distraction. As she aged, Dove had learned about all the breeds of Sornieth, of the lands and the deities, of the history of her world. She devoured books on politics and interpersonal communication. And once she had read all she could find to read, she began to write. Academic papers and essays were her usual work, but occasionally she would pen political letters, sermons, speeches, and lessons. She would spread her words, and her knowledge, and eventually, those would lead to her peace.
Dragons began to take note of this once insignificant young coatl, and began to respect her life's work. Those who had bullied and tormented her as hatchlings now sought her forgiveness. Courts sought her wisdom. But among this fame, this notoriety, she found as the peace she wanted slowly took hold, she did not care to be in the spotlight. Her wisdom could be shared from a cloak of secrecy, of whispered words and the scratch of a quill on parchment. She could be an ambassador of peace from her quite corner of the archives, not just from the frontlines of the world. So, she withdrew from political intrigue, sending in instead ambassadors selected by her and High King Orion, and trained in her methods, to inspire peace and knowledge in other lands. Though she wanted peace because of the bullying she faced as a hatchling, though the ones who had inflicted this pain on her had apologized and she'd accepted, her old, invisible wounds would always tear open when she stood in the spotlight. There was too much pain inside of her that had yet to heal. So, with Orion's blessing, she accepted the job she had always truthfully wanted anyway, and set out to make sure any who sought peace and knowledge could find it.

This lovely girl was hatched on my birthday! September 21st is also International Day of Peace.
