Sky came to the Smokeveils as a guest, a cheerful, eager explorer who intended to use the clan as a resting place between his ambitious expeditions. But while on a journey to the heart of Southern Icefields during the Crystalline Gala, something changed. He returned...different. Abandoning his scarf and beloved bluffclamber hat, he began wearing silks and silver jewelry, and the breath of winter seems to linger wherever he goes. His once outgoing personality has become reserved; he speaks much less frequently, instead watching the clan's goings-on with remote Ice eyes from behind his veil. When he does speak, his voice is as soft as the falling snow. Even more disconcerting to the Smokeveils dragons, his guest pavillion in the Castle of Trees has become an oasis of winter, a frost-silvered faerie grove in the midst of the jungle. The small trees and bushes are limned in ice; frozen flowering vines adorn the structure like strands of diamonds; and the area blooms with winterbelle, ice-blue tulips, and unfamiliar, lace-like white flowers. Ffene, as the protector of the Castle, was particularly enraged by the change and had to be restrained from physically throwing him out of the clan's territory. But Sky asserted that he was doing no harm—for wasn't winter a part of nature too?—and since there's been no sign of the frost spreading beyond his immediate living area, the clan is guardedly allowing him to stay, at least for the moment. Why he chose to return to the Viridian Labyrinth, bringing the cold with him, instead of remaining in the icelands, no one knows.... Facts – Spends most of his time in his grove. When he does go out, he leaves evanescent frost-footprints behind him as he walks, which melt in an instant in the rainforest's warmth. – Pays his guest fee with eternal snow. – Was identified as a complete stranger by every one of the clan's tundras when he returned. In addition, some of them insist that he's male and the others say that he smells female. This disagreement over scent so disturbs most of them that they have a tacit agreement not to discuss it at all. Fictions — Familiar When he returned to the clan from the Southern Icefields, he brought with him a new familiar, a frostbite hummingbird. No one knows what happened to his original familiar, a swift volt named Sparkle.
