Biography

serious, on task and focused

mother was cursed by a maren to have a child that would be cursed with being part maren;
long tail with a fin on the end, legs barely work - often swims since it's easier for him to swim than walk with leg supports. is the clan fisher along with his mate.

Orca wasn’t entirely sure of the entire story behind his situation, but it went something like this: His mother had been out hunting seafood for the clan and along the way Maren had tried to ambush her and she had killed them all, and unbeknownst to his mother she had killed a Maren chief and they had put a curse on her. The curse being that the child she wanted the most, was the most proud of, would be cursed with being a part Maren and part dragon abomination. Orca had been his mother’s last child before she had done her service for Lightweaver and she could retire in fighting and in breeding to produce many children. Orca should have been her most beautiful child, the one who would have lived by her side forever. But the day before Orca had been hatched from his egg, she got a vision from the Maren who had cursed her (who she had killed soon after) telling her of her sons fate.

Like most mothers, she wasn’t inclined to believe in silly curses of the Beast clan, they were supposed to be savages after all. So she went and nurtured his egg until he hatched, which is when she felt devastation clutch at her heart, he had been deformed broken legs and a strong Maren tail. She kept this information from the clan and went to throw him into the river at the border of her territories the day he had been born. She hadn’t spoken a single word to him, she just looked sad. She threw him into the river and he never saw her again.

He had been dragged down the rivers current, until he fell into the Sea of Thousand Currents. He fell from there into the bottom of the sea – being part Maren thankfully allowed him to breathe underwater - where the soft sand cradled his fragile body and seaweed moved with the currents of the water. He had been dazed by the fall and sat there, unable to move with his broken legs. Once he recovered from his daze he was confused, his instincts as a little hatchlings was to wait for his mother to return for him so he did. He waited. And waited. And waited. He was really hungry and confused and scared as the night descended. His mother should have come for him now, but she hadn’t. He managed to begin to drag himself around to try find his mother and it wasn’t long before some strange creatures found him. They circled around him and he was scared at first until he noticed they had tails like him.

“Mama?” He said excitedly, trying to wiggle himself upright. The strange creatures looked at each other and picked him up.

“Yes, I’m your mama and this is your papa.” It said to him in a soft silky voice. He wriggled his way into resting in her arms.

“I knew you’d come for me!” He said excitedly and nuzzled her chest. The Maren smiled down at him and looked at her parent before they took him away.

Together, the two strange Maren raised him. The two of them raised him as their son and he was none the wiser, they were both normal parents to him now – being years since he last saw his birth mother. The two Maren were outcast from their own kind, and while at first raising him was a rouse for defending them from Maren clans who like to attack them (they would be scared of the wildclaw, especially one that was larger than them and could swim as easily as they could) they had slowly began to treat him like a true son and doted on him accordingly.

One day, they decided it was time to tell him of his own true kind and find him a clan that would accept him. They told him and while he took it easy, he wasn’t sure another clan would accept him, they told him that his mother had most likely abandoned him due to his differences to whole dragons and that scared him. Though the three of them together managed to find him a clan, a clan called “The Shrouded”. They were a clan that took in every dragon that needed shelter and isolation, it had been hard to find them, but they had seen some of the clan’s dragons on the shore and talked to them. Artemis, the leader of the few dragons they had encountered, had been nice and offered him a place in the clan. It had taken a few days to work things out, but he was finally able to get housed in a proper clan amongst many of his kind.

The clan had several powerful mages and a Doctor. They had managed to fix his legs slightly, they had been broken since birth so the bone were hard to set but they had and given him leg frames heavily imbued with magic to help him walk to the clan. He had been upset to leave his parents, but the mages offered to house them as well. The most powerful mages took his parents first, holding them in a sphere of water so that they could survive the journey. The weaker mages had stayed behind to help him. They had to teach him how to walk with the braces and kept by his side as he struggled to walk, every step caused him great pain but he managed the walk to the clan. They showed him to a special spot set up for him, two rooms.
Both rooms were framed entirely in a clear glass, and the room he was stood in front of was filled entirely with water which was held back from flooding out of the door. The next room was mostly a huge pond with some land for him and other dragons to walk on. He even noticed tunnels in the bottom of the pond room. His parents were in the room filled entirely with water.

“Our best mages will come by later, to teach you the magic you need to be able to allow your parents to swap between the rooms.” One of the mages that had walked with him told him.

He nodded before diving right into the water room. The walking aids were water proof and his legs were mostly limp as he swam. He swam right up to his parents and nuzzled their chests happily.

Now all three of them could have a permanent home together, as long as they lived. For them, everything was happy and perfect.
