Myth stepped out of the library, nearly losing his armful of scrolls into the passing gust. He wasn't extremely fond of the Windswept Plateau, but Kohl's stories were worth it. Maybe this time he could write fast enough to keep up, a new story might make up for his overdue books and scrolls, he wasn't seeing any other way he could make it up to Thunderstorm. The Imperial opened his wings, but before he could take off, something gigantic swept past, right in front of him. He gasped and really did drop some scrolls, they fluttered down and landed in the ocean far, far below. Could that have been? No way. No way. They had never shown themself like this before, not so conspicuously. Myth's jaw dropped. “Wonder who that was. Kite bring in another newcomer?” Rasped Reed, coming out the door behind him. “IT WAS THE SPECTER. You saw them! You believe me! You have to help me convince the others! They must have been going to the altar, let's follow them! If we can find the altar, there's no way they can deny it anymore!” Myth nearly shouted. “No way in hell, kid. Regardless of whether they are a ghost, they're gigantic. You don't mess with a Guardian. Especially if your theory is true, we don't want to get between them and their Charge.” “We're not 'messing around' if we just go look! And I'm pretty sure their Charge is already dead anyway! what are we gonna do to a gravestone? You've gotta come help. You wouldn't leave me to face them alone if you're that afraid, would you?” Reed didn't reply, she took off, and Myth huffed. Apparently she would leave him to face this alone. He gathered his bearings and flapped after the Specter. Or at least, the direction he thought they had gone. There was nothing there, nothing at all. The enormous dragon was stark white, and should have stuck out like a broken wing in this clear, endless sky. But the sky was completely empty. Myth felt sick to his stomach and he shivered from head to toe. His glowing runes pulsed with uneasiness, and he turned back around to face the library, slamming his eyes shut. A sudden, furiously strong wind threw him back onto the library's patio with the force of an Imperial's Eliminate. Myth scrambled inside, hyperventilating. “..... Where did my scrolls go, in such short time?” Asked Thunderstorm, but he didn't answer. Myth curled up on the floor. This would be it, he had to stop looking for this thing. This was the end. It was nothing at all like the end. |
