Actually quiet and reserved by nature, Járn is tasking with being the draconic equivalent of a town crier to spread the latest instructions or warnings of a snow storm incoming, but also to garner opinion from the dragons not in positions of power. He's calm and fatherly in his approach, so many feel comfortable speaking to him. He uses his discretion as to what to share with Askja, sometimes however, as his position is less powerful than it appears.

In his personal life he is friends with Sulur and Syki, and nest mates with his fellow council member Ziema. They are not a close pair, and she is asexual but has fond feelings for him in other respects.
