More often than not it leaves him with a patchy look of matted fur and dried dirt; he's been covered in remnants of his explorations for so long, he doesn't even remember what his markings actually look like.
His last excursion lead him to a limestone field which ended with his fur reaching an epic new level of patchiness and stubborn, white spots all over. Since he's not exceptionally vain the lime particles in his fur don't really bother him, what does bother him, is that for Coatls pale or spotty coloration is a sign for illness and fading health and because he decided to finally do something about his crush on Gale, a Coatl girl with striking blue-range colors, bathing time it is.
This has caused some speculations between other clan members (rumor has it there is even a betting pool, but psst) about how exactly he looks under all the dirt and minerals.
