History: He was one of the Windsinger's Second Children and sent by the deity to aid Brevi in her task to create strong, diverse bloodlines. He never felt a strong urge to pack up with other Mirrors and before being given his task by the Windsinger, had often been avoided by others of his breed due to his strangeness. When he became Brevi's mate, he began to feel the pack loyalty to those of his offspring and adopted clan members regardless of their breed. He became a devoted hunter-warrior, dedicating himself to defending his pack-clan from danger and teaching them how to protect themselves.

When the grandchildren rebelled, he was torn between supporting his mate and supporting his pack. When he chose to support the pack over Brevi, she succumbed to a great fit of anger and attacked him. Her greater size and strength along his unwillingness to fight his mate ended in severe injuries to his legs. Van counted the sacrifice worth it, however, since it was the sight of his injuries that shocked Brevi back to her senses and ultimately allowed him to convince her to abandon her grand plan for the sake of pack harmony. One of the clan mates devised clever leg armor that helped him regain the ability to walk and fight.

Brevi's Search did not bother him. He simply followed her and protected those of his pack-clan that chose to follow along. Neither was he bothered when she revealed her intent to Guard the long-lost human tribe. He chose to support Brevi this time, talking with his clan mates and convincing many to agree with her. He was not surprised by feeling the pack loyalty to the humans once they joined the clan. It was the kind of Mirror dragon he was.

Many of the dragons view Van as a parental figure, even though he was not their sire. They listen when he speaks up, for he never speaks unless it is important. The humans are quite fond of Van as well and there's always one willing to volunteer to aid him. He often oversees development of human-dragon fighting gear, tactics, and techniques.
