B I O G R A P H Y

Impetus was a mere short-wing when he took over his parents' blacksmithing business. He was good at his trade, and had a steady supply of customers, and yet he hungered for more. He wanted to be out fighting, not cowering behind a counter like a wimp. But he was a light dragon, and where he worked, on the outskirts of the Great Furnace, light dragons were viewed as pompous stuck-up brats who scared easily and didn't have what it took to be a real fighter.

So he began to sneak out. First it was just to watch fights, then, as he gained confidence, he began to enter some himself. He called himself the Red Shogun, and manipulated the lights to dance in his mane and hide his true element. He became good. Really good. When his adopted sister, Nympha, discovered his late-night escapades, she didn't rebuke him but started tagging along too.

But soon, good was not enough. Impetus had reached the highest level he could take himself, and he knew that he needed a teacher. The blacksmith shop turned out to be the perfect place to find one, as warriors were constantly coming in and out. When a teacher was secured, Impetus and Nympha locked up shop and travelled east to the Molten Scar.

Fighting was exhilarating. Impetus loved the rushes of energy, the clarity of mind, the feelings of power that all came from his training. His determination carried him to the top of the class, and it wasn't long before he was an assistant trainer himself. His fiery mane and hot-temper made an impression on others, and he often received offers inviting him to join their clans. But before he could accept any of them, there was one last thing he needed to do.

After graduation, Impetus returned one last time to the old blacksmithery. He walked through the small shop, calling back all the memories of his parents and their family. Then, he chained up the doors one last time. It was time to find a new clan.

_GUILD LEADER_

____As the Outpost grew in size, a new system of organization was needed. And since the clan was a wide variety of dragons with different talents and trades, guilds were decided upon. Impetus was chosen to lead the newly-formed warriors guild. His guild would deal with the training of new recruits, along with protection of both dragons and territory.

____Impetus took to his new role like a duck to water. All the years of training- both himself and others made him prepared for the job and it showed. Impetus became the lead trainer, the one most often to lead Embers into the Coliseum, and the one to give them a crash course in battling and surviving. He even took on two apprentices, the young clan leader, Lloyd, and a fiery skydancer called Kairos.

____The guild grew. At first it was only himself and Nympha, but as more dragons were added, he was able to divide tasks more easily. Soon he had patrollers, protectors, and other trainers all working together to protect the clan and serve the Mother's cause. The system was working better than anyone could have imagined.

_BLACKSMITH_

____Impetus had only been leader of the warriors for a short time when he was contacted by Lloyd. The nocturne told him that his skills were needed elsewhere- as a blacksmith. Impetus was stricken. "You want me to abondon my warriors?" he demanded. "I'm the head! I can't just leave!"

____Nevertheless, the position of blacksmith still needed filled, and Impetus was the only one with adequate experience. And so a compromise was reached. Impetus would stay the lead warrior, but he would also divide his time between those responsibilities and some new blacksmith ones. And so Impetus became the first dragon to belong to two guilds- creator and warrior.

____At first it was difficult juggling two roles, but soon Impetus balanced it out. He still spent most of his time with his warriors, but when duty called, he would lay down his battle claws and pick up his forge tools. He even taught his second apprentice, Kairos, a bit about blacksmithing. Impetus' forging skills only grow as he picks the trade back up, and he anticipates the day when he'll be equally talented in both skill sets.

Impetus - He looks like a warrior I wouldn't want to mess with. Normally fire comes out of dragon's mouths, but in his case, he's on fire! Is that because he wins so many fights? Another cool derg with story potential. I would love to see it!
