Biography

Partnering fire lairs of the Ashfall Waste work together in the volcanoes, powering the land for their lady FlameCaller. Some feed the hungry fires and molten cores to please Our Lady, and others to power the great machines and work the land to bring us the coals, metals, and other riches that all we all so desperately need.

Imported young, this little ice hatchling was found to have a knack for digging up rich ores.

Proud worker of the Great Furnace

Some time ago, Andor, this cave's leader, met a passing dragon caravan.
They sold the hatchling named MetalWorker, under the pretense that "riches would follow her steps from under the earth," or so he was told. He originally went to this caravan seeking food, but he was told they had no food to sell. Thinking he could use this opportunity to buy a lucky dragon who could feed his entire clan off of the riches they dug up from underneath her, he bought the hatchling as fast as he could.

Andor was starving, but he didn't want it to show. His clan was hungry. But he didn't want to appear weak. There were many dragons and not enough prey around. He had been willingly giving up his food for the others in his den to have. If another clan found out, they would surely move in on his home and attack them in their weakened state.

As soon as the transaction was finished, Andor picked up the hatchling girl and flew into his den, deep down into the mines. He put Metals down and ordered his lair's designated diggers to start digging where ever she was standing in the mines. They dug. And dug. Nothing turned up. When he flew back up to the surface with the others, the caravan was out of sight.
They returned to the mines to give it another sad, but hopeful shot.
Again, no such luck.

Later that night, his other clan members lined up and said a solemn yet heartfelt welcome to Metals, and a goodnight to them both. But Andor was alone in his head, and the aches of having no food in his tummy and a family with no hope left was weighing on his shoulders.

He watched his new hatchling with frustrated eyes, tuning out the sad salutations.
Another mouth to feed, he thought, and still no income.
It was nothing personal towards her. In fact, she was quite a sweet baby dragon. But he dropped a lot of gold on her. The last of his clan's money. For the past several weeks, his foragers and hunters were coming back with less and less food. This was his final option now, and it seemed to have come from the Dragon Gods themselves! But it had been a lie, another dead end.

Coming back to reality, his eyes watched as the last dragon saying goodnight left the mine.

He sighed, and went to put his head down.

Suddenly, Metals darted across the tunnel to the other side of the room. She ran behind a large rock. Andor peered at her with curiosity, but was feeling too tired to stand for a closer look. She smelled something, and huffed and puffed, scratching at some dirt, scraping at it furiously... until it revealed a glimmering surface underneath; a raw, pure, uncut diamond. His mouth gaped at this discovery. Her power was very real! She let out an excited squeak of a roar and ran back up to her new family patron with her treasure. It was nearly as big as she was! The diamond alone could feed his clan for months! Maybe it was the overwhelming numerous greetings of her MANY new clan members and the big move of the day tired her out earlier? Whatever the case, thank FlameCaller! Andor called for his wife Seena to share the good news with the rest of their family: they were all saved!

Andor saw to it that as soon as the young dragoness was of age to hunt alone, that she find her time spent with a reliable lamp with her trusty familiar in the intricate inner workings of the volcanic mine. Never fear good reader - this is what she enjoys more than anything! Not many dragons work here, but the ones who are working in our Great Volcano are filled with the utmost pride and are given the highest respect from all elemental dragons.

Mining in the Great Furnace requires dedication, strength, durability, bravery, and passion. The job itself is incredibly dangerous, yet the rewards it yields are unimaginable, and are usually unattainable for dragons who are not born of fire. Metals has proved them all wrong. Her icy powers have proven quite effective for cooling down the hotter layers beneath the surface.
The other workers have been so gracious and praise her for this kind of assistance!

Through her love for her father Andor, her new leader's success in the eyes of the FlameCaller, and for her new family's welfare, she works harder than anyone to bring home minerals and riches for her clan. Even the FlameCaller has taken notice. She knows who is most loyal. Maybe that caravan crossed paths with Andor that day for a reason.

All in all, Metals loves everything about the volcano, happens to be a very good hunter of ores, and is the very best "metal" detector around.
