It’s not often that a tundra has such a clear memory, beyond the world of smells. But Kali has one that shines golden. As a tiny floof she was given an equally floofy, amazingly soft, perfectly crafted pukasloth. She remembers feeling happy enough to bust into a million happy, puffy bits.

She can’t remember who gave it to her or where it went. But the memory was strong enough to influence Kali’s career path. Now she’s the best toymaker you can find. And that golden feeling takes over every time she starts making one. It drowns everything else out.

Kali’s clan has learned not to interrupt her, not even for mealtimes. She’s generally kind, but the teeth come out when she’s not eased out of that golden feeling. Some of the adults in her clan don’t understand why she’d be that way. But the parents don’t much mind. Each commissioned piece is perfect, and the happiness it brings their hatchlings is well worth the snappishness.

Kali spends most of her non-working time wandering about the clan’s environs. To the other dragons she seems a bit vacant, and often won’t answer when spoken to. She’ll lose the conversation thread, or begin a new one entirely. But somehow she always comes back with exactly what she needs for her newest projects. And regardless of her tundra memory, and the wool-gathering she commonly seems to do, she’s never forgotten a toy she’s made, or the hatchling that loves it.
