The Gold-Thief
Screee-ai-aoooooooo gems too! Location: The canyonlands Sköll has retreated further into the wild. As tempting as the gold changing hands may be, she mislikes the Shadow Exalts she can half-sense keeping an eye on things. |
Sköll is a clanless dragon who dwells in the canyonlands near Derecho Canyon. She is extremely fond of metals, especially gold, and harbors vague ambitions of learning metalworking, though she has yet to find any clan or group that she feels comfortable joining. While mostly feral, hunting her own prey and sleeping in scrapes in the sand, Sköll is too intrigued by dragon craft to move too far outside dragon society. She is not above stealing items that catch her fancy, or attacking travelers for valuable wares, but enjoys hearing stories and watching dragons work too much to risk building up much of a reputation as a raider. Physical description Sköll is a large, lanky wildclaw with proportionately short wings. Her pelt has a grimy appearance even when she has freshly bathed—an earthy oiliness that seems to permanently coat each feather. Despite her rather grimy appearance, she has a certain slim attractiveness to her face and claws. She smells of petroleum, soil, and animal fur. An accomplished land traveler, Sköll moves with a stalking grace common to wildclaws. She can move extremely quickly when motivated, though at top speed she is all but incapable of turning. Having fledged so alone, she has never learned to fly, though she is capable of using her wings to help her jump or climb. Combat In combat, Sköll stries fast and hard, blows trailing small sparks. She is durable, particularly for a wildclaw, but sees no reason not to flee a stronger force. |
Origin Sköll was hatched near Amber Caldera. Her parents parted after their tryst, leaving her and her younger sister with their father. By turns, Fenrir cared for her and drove her away. He sheltered her egg in a cleft in the rock, and then abandoned it; when she hatched, he brought her meat, and then vanished again until hunger drove her to catch her own food. He disappeared and reappeared frequently afterward, sometimes bringing food, sometimes driving her away with bared teeth. The one thing she could be certain of, however, was that his dark shape would keep the caldera-dragons away. More importantly, he was a match for the strange mirrors that also claimed the outside of the caldera. Her instinctive dread of them eventually drove her to leave when her father vanished once again. |
Kin Sköll is the daughter of the feral wildclaw Fenrir, and the scribe of Amber Caldera Clan, Velocitus—a result of her father's instinct and her mother's detached curiosity. Her heritage is almost entirely wildclaw, with a significant chunk of coatl on both sides. This mixed heritage has leant itself to a somewhat musical voice and an affinity for metalworking alongside wildclaw ferocity and pride. Sköll knows virtually nothing of her family. While somewhat curious about her origins, she has no idea how one would go about learning more without returning to speak with her parents, something she dares not do with the lurking threat of the mirror pack and the uncertainty of her being able to come anywhere near the Caldera where her mother lives without the crackling skydancer or her bird companion attacking. |
