Mintaka

Mintaka was a sweet young pearlcatcher, born and raised in the Lotuskite clan. She remembers much of her hatchlinghood still, playing with her siblings under the watchful gaze of her impressive father, waiting to teach her mother of all the things she had learned when her mom got back from her patrols.

Mintaka admired both of her parents greatly; though she was often overlooked as the middle child, she still strove to huge lengths to gain the recognition and admiration of her parents. As she grew older, she stayed mostly the same. When she heard that her mother was going to return to her own home, the young pearlcatcher has assumed that the entire family was going to go and she couldn't contain her excitement!

Until she realized that she would be left behind with her father and brothers.

When Orion left, her brother, Alnilam, followed, and she was left alone with her father and her fathers favorite, which was not her. Infuriated and frustrated with the outcome of this, she contained her overwhelming anger and feelings of abandonment. She threw herself into her work, honing skill after skill, claw after claw, desperate for something. anything.

As time wore on, she grew deeply bitter and jealous of her brothers, especially when word came that Alnilam, the youngest, was to inherit the rule of clan Cairne.

She poured her energy and time into planning on how to take the leadership that was so rightfully hers. Maybe then, she would be recognized and given the respect she deserved.
