Orville was born with a defect that denied him the ability to fly. Because of this and the "wet paint" pattern on his wings, other dragons would tease and call him "wet wings". This mockery only drove Orville's desire to fly deeper. Through many practice, endurance, blood, sweat and many tears..he was still unsuccessful. He was ashamed of himself and considered himself to be a disgrace to his family, so he left.
His journey of many months landed him in the Shifting Expanse. Not long after his arrival it dawned on him that he knew no one in the area or the area itself. He stood and observed the area around him, beginning to think he had made a mistake, leaving home with no plans on where to go. However, within minutes of his appearance he was greeted by a hyperactive spiral eager to meet him and introduce him to his friends.
Upon entering the lair with the spiral, he was greeted by many dragons with open arms and hearts. He made himself a home here with the other dragons, finally feeling accepted, though he wouldn't tell anyone why he left home. He didn't have to however, because the other residents found out from his strange behavior when asked to gather. They knew it must be a touchy subject so they never spoke to him about it. A few weeks after he had settled in he was gifted with a home made wooden airplane made by some of the other residents. He was overjoyed and most days it acts as his main mode of transportation. It also acts as his teaching instrument to help hatchling learn to fly and not be afraid of the sky.
These days he admires his wings, seeing them as "clouds in a blue sky."
