Biography
Ix has been nothing but painstakingly patient with this fellow, and this may be the very first dragon to wear his patience down to the bone.
It all started when a mysterious pair of Nocturnes came seeking shelter in the Rapturous Depths, not long before the mandatory evacuation. DuBois and Maybel were a quiet, unseemly pair. DuBois allegedly claimed they were political refugees, and Maybel was not one for speaking up in her companion's presence. The two would often disappear from sanctuary and return just as mysteriously as they departed, until just weeks before the disaster at Avalon Keep, they returned with twin boys, Claus and his brother Victor.
Ix uncovered a particularly grim secret behind the boys and their parents' disappearances and confronted them. DuBois got the upper hand and nearly put an end to Ix's life in secret, but he was thwarted by Fore by complete coincidence due to the timing and location of this deed. When the boys were found, Claus had already been forced to murder his own mother under his father's orders, and his brother had died trying to stop him. Ix took the traumatized child and raised him under his wing, as the tragedy was quickly shunted behind them.
Claus suffers from a couple of very strange curses due to his father's dabbling in ancient arcane magic. For one, he must always be assigned to and obey the orders of his Lord--something of which is father must have previously taken the mantle to. Ix has been in this position since rescuing him. Secondly, his legs appear to be slowly calcifying at a slow, rolling rate. They can still move, but he has lost almost all sensation in them. Ix has been trying to cure Claus of this malady since he found him.
The problem with this fellow now, is that in his early adulthood he's been showing some very open signs of mental deviancy. Ix has been doing his best to straighten him out, but it appears that Claus is only getting...sicker. It doesn't help that, soon after moving to the Plaguelands, their resident psychopath took a liking to him. Now Fiore and Claus have been known to go on little adventures, often sauntering back caked in blood. While Ix has no love for Fiore, and often throws Fore at the little minx to 'take care of his charge', Ix continues to treat Claus like the poor, demented son he should have saved in more ways than one.
