Mutant. Outcast. He's heard it all, and he still smiles and hums a cheery tune as he walks through the crowd. Monarch's mutations don't seem to bother him at all. Nobody is bold enough to ask what happened to make him into what he is today. He'd happily tell them if they did ask - it doesn't embarrass him.

Monarch's chipper attitude and generous nature seems out of place in the harsh boneyard. Many questioned his leadership in the Den of Infection at first, until he proved that he was exactly what they needed for exactly the reasons they questioned him: He was stability in a chaotic wasteland. He was confident decisiveness in a ruthless power struggle. He was not the average Plague dragon, and he filled in what the Den lacked.

Aerocyte seemed fascinated by his mutations, and he cheerfully explained the sentience of his tail and his interest in snakes in general. The scholarly relationship developed into something more romantic. They seemed to complete each other - Monarch was a little less academic, but he was charismatic and sweet. Aerocyte lacked social grace, but she was a bit of a brainiac. Together, they made one functional leader.
