Biography
Water Flight Subspecies - Coatl Waddler
What’s that over there? Is that dragon wearing a tuxedo? How adorable!
Wait, it isn’t a tuxedo? Oh, it’s a Coatl Waddler!
Coatl Waddlers, or “Waddlers” as an abbreviation, are dragons with a distinctive pattern to their body that makes them look like they’re wearing a tuxedo. Their walk is also very unique to their subspecies, a full-body side-to-side sway that isn’t very stable, a “waddle” you could say. With such a walk, they’re occasionally seen tipping or falling over, an amusingly cute event to witness that other dragons enjoy. Though they appear to be clumsy on land, their true grace and elegance can be seen while underwater as they are very strong swimmers.
Each of these dragons are always obsidian in color with their undersides a striking white, usually in shades of ice, white, or maize. If you look close enough, they have long markings throughout their bodies that resemble the ripples and currents found in water. It isn’t quite yet known the purpose of these markings, if they are just for looks or for practical purposes when they are underwater. Their feathers are waterproof, so they look just as fabulous as they do under the sea as they do on land.
Their bodies are very streamlined, allowing them to make great leaps out of the water or to dive swiftly into the watery depths. It’s quite a spectacle to see them take off into the air straight from the water as easily as any other dragon can do from land.
Beware the dragons that mimic the same appearances as Waddlers. Only Coatls are able to be classified as one, and even then, they must have their distinctive markings. With a careful eye, one can distinguish a genuine Coatl Waddler from hybrids or copycats.
These dragons can be found in other flights outside of Water and can survive even the most extreme temperatures and weather phenomenons. However, they are most often seen near bodies of water and are happiest when they have the opportunity to swim to their heart’s content.
