Biography

Wendigo - The Skeleton in the Closset
Wen - dee - go

Technically not truly a dragon but a malevolent spirit, Wendigo wears the skins it steals from its' victims once it's latched on and drained them of their life force in order to exist in whatever world on the physical plane that it has happened upon. From there, it mingles and slinks among the unassuming, slowly feeding off of the life force of others of it's adopted kind, only moving on if it is somehow exercised, killed, or its' food source is completely depleted. The only way to kill Wendigo is by setting it on fire, so a dragon hide was a very key accomplishment. Safe within the fire-proof dragon flesh, it is virtually immortal without fault in this realm unless they are exercised, which hasn't happen yet and most likely won't.

Wendigo has a mysterious tie to Artemisia who won't talk about where the being came from or why she keeps it around. The only thing that she will say is that it's better here, under her watchful eye than prowling the landscape causing death and decay wherever it goes. Some believe that the skin it wears once belonged to someone important in Artemisia's life, but no one has been able to prove that because as Wendigo settles into a new hide, the original dragon's colours and markings fade to putrid shadows and it even begins to rot after enough time goes by without it gorging itself on another being's energy. Others say that Artemisia was entrusted with a familial task to keep the monster reined in. Regardless of which is true or if there is another, darker reason, Wendigo is here to stay and most dragons in the clan do their best to avoid it. Most clan members are made uncomfortable by it, but some, primarily Skydancers with their sensitivity, are even made sick by it's presence. It is unknown how Artemisia and a select few others are able to spend time around it.
