ASTAROTH
Shape the shadow and give life to nightmares. |
She was never meant to stand at the head of an army. Never meant to deliver soldiers to her mother, the Queen. She will gladly stay in the company of her books and the sunlit Imperial. Secrets cannot be kept as she knows how to here, though, not where Her Light reveals all. So she must unlearn the Shadowlike deception that comes naturally to her, and embrace the bending of the truth that those born of Light do. Astaroth is mild mannered, low energy, and reclusive. Though not unfriendly or socially anxious, she avoids spending an extended amount of time with others. She is often content to study any historical tomes and journals alone in her quarters. She does, however, get terribly lonely if she doesn't get her small doses of social interaction here and there. Fitting, then, that she has settled in with Sikdeinmaar and Koraavtiid, the records Keeper and her assistant who sees beyond. In return for her assistance in magical research, Astaroth has been welcomed into the quiet library stacked high with books and scrolls, and given her own dark quarters to keep her comfortable during daylight hours. The Windborn cannot change the level of sunlight that bathes the Ruins, but they can do their very best to keep their new addition comfortable. Astaroth left her home of the Undermoor Kingdom charged with the destiny of rallying an army and some day returning to aid her mother, the Queen. Born under the auspices of a new moon, she can drain the willpower from others in her presence, leaving them unmotivated and her with an abundance of raw magical energy. She has poor control of this ability and she must make a focused effort to stop it. While she enjoys having a rush of energy, she rather dislikes turning company into layabouts and fears that over exposure to her power could induce depression on others. She does not hesitate to crush the will of anyone who offends her - thankfully, she is a patient and forgiving soul. "Sikdeinmaar? Do you know anything about this tome?" "Astaroth, there's some things that even I haven't read in these halls. This place was not originally ours." "It's not written in common draconic." "...It's not written in any sort of draconic at all. Astaroth, you would not know this language." "Do you know it, then?" "...Yes. I do, to an extent. I will look into this, if you want me to. Though... Astaroth? Please keep in mind that, even though I encourage the acquisition of knowledge, some knowledge can prove to be incredibly dangerous." "What do you mean?" "Be careful of which books you open. Goodnight, little one."
