"I don't want to be exalted", the young Tundra shouted. He may as well have slapped his mother in the face. All she ever wanted was to raise a clan of devotees to the Arcanist. Nearly every single one of her hatchlings had, at one point or another, been trained into the service of their deity. While some may have taken a discourse through other lairs or spent a lengthy time in the home of their parents, none of them had ever objected to the idea of pursuing exalted status. It was the natural order of things.

However, on this rare occasion Empsychos was feeling generous. "The clan's trainers are perpetually working hard and Starfall Celebration is about to begin. I suppose the Arcanist will not be disgraced by our failure to see you achieve exaltation. Although I will not suffer you to live in my home," his mother asserted. With eyes averted, the Fae swooped off, leaving any parting gifts or words of encouragement up to her softhearted mate.

"You are named for the lichen, which demonstrates working together and perseverance," the polished Gelato began. "You will grow, although perhaps not in ways or environments others expect. Keep heart, remain unshaken, and remember what home smells like. There can always be exceptions made to rules."
