Bright Light in the Dark

Yuvon was hatched in a rare confluence of stars and planets that caused an unusual mutation in his crystals- They glowed as bright as his eyes did as soon as they cracked open.

Always the butt end of other dragons glow worm jokes, he became quiet and reserved, his study into his unusual condition leading him to the Crystal Pools in the Arcane territory. While there, he became increasingly infatuated with the bright and often mystical minerals found all over the world. From amber to citrine, to rubies to sparkling tourmaline. His studies, rather than magical, turned to the scientific sort, and he spent years dissolving and discovering the different scientific and chemical properties that cause reactions such as glowing, sparkling, or even magnetism.

Of course, much of this was hard to do without magical assistance, as was the nature of rocks in this world. Lacking any such skill for himself, he came to the Sundial archives, where he knew there were other dragons, some highly skilled in the magical arts and most all of them holding the scholarly pursuits, as well as minerals and crystals, sacred.

Wishing to travel though afraid of long trips alone, he once came across a small ragtag circus troupe, aptly called Cirque de Tonnerre. They loved his bright, glowing skin, and promised him shelter and food if he was to travel with them as an addition to their strange clan. He very much enjoyed the idea, and as long as he could continue to research, he obliged.

Some call him an alchemist, and he supposes that if trying to solve the puzzles of the universe in a common sense kind of fashion make him an alchemist, then an alchemist he'll be.
