- - - Some dragons are obsessed with heritage: who came before them and how far they are descended from one created by the deities. Some dragons believe that those not born to parents were sent by the deities to the world for some purpose. There is no evidence to prove it, but some of these dragons believe it fervently. They put so much stock in this belief that they think they are above other dragons. Kalju is one of these dragons; he can trace his line back to a dragon descended from the deities by no more than two generations. The closeness to the deities went to his head. Kalju believed he was better than other dragons, causing him to come off as snobbish.

Believing his close line to the deities, Kalju dedicated his life to research. Books, scrolls, dragons, he learned from them all. He learned everything he could, traveling across the world. While he gained much knowledge, he also discovered the level of ignorance most dragons possessed. Kalju realized that the only one who could properly remedy the situation was him. That was when he settled with a clan to teach them the true history of their kind.

Kalju’s snobbish attitude alienated many of the other dragons in the clan and he found he had much free time as a result. This free time he filled with his research and reading. He had so much free time that he was making quick work of the clan’s library and had to keep purchasing scrolls and books to satiate his curiosity. The only thing he enjoyed as much as reading was eating turkey. In fact, he would often do both at the same time. Turkey was his favourite meal. Some of his clan mates were put off by Kalju’s obsession with the fowl, but nothing could destroy his desire to eat the bird.

While the Skydancer never found himself close to anyone in the clan, he did take an interest in one dragon in particular. Megaroth was as withdrawn from the other dragons. Her solitude was not from choice, however, as a condition - an illness, a curse, a disease, whatever it was - kept her from being too close to the others for fear of excruciating pain, should they accidentally touch her. Kalju’s interest was fueled by his curiosity over her condition: what it was, what caused it, how it would continue, and if there was a cure. He spent much time talking to her, gathering as much information on the subject as he could. It was impossible to say if his interest was only linked to her illness, or if he was attracted to her in another way.

Absorbed in his own delusions of grandeur, obsessed with his research, frequently left to his own devices, Kalju finds he has little patience for other dragons. He often ends up in arguments with clan mates, most of them centered around his lineage connection to the deities. His hot headedness coupled with his stubborn snobbiness frequently causes tempers to fly. Still, through it all, the clan refuses to disown him. Delusion or truth, his research is invaluable. His intellect keeps him safe, but also ensures his solitude.

"We cling to our own point of view, as though everything depended on it. Yet our opinions have no permanence; like autumn and winter, they gradually pass away."
~ Zhuangzi
