Cyanokit is a troubled soul. His body is black and bruised; his bones ache, though he's not even a full adult. He hardly sleeps, his sword never leaves his side. His wings are too weak to fly; his dreams are filled with thoughts of flying. He can barely tell day from night his eyesight is so poor. Cursed he is, because of a mother who's Plague-addled mind is hellbent on spreading poisons everywhere, causing her children to grow up with the infection inside them. But Cyanokit was different. His blood contains the cure for her poisons; the only cure available. She fled from him, and he ended up in a strange place far from her as a hatchling. These dragons are kind, feeding him and taking care of him while he searches for his mother. He must end her before she can infect all of Sornieth with her nasty virus.



A long time later, a battle raged between Cyanide and her kit. Blood was spilled, searing hot and toxic and it stained the snow under their feet. Claws dug into flesh, teeth tore through belly and spines stabbed into muscle.

The two wore each other out, barely able to stand from the carnage. Cyanokit moved towards his mother, her eyes watching her own blood boil when mixed with his. He stood before her. There was no words spoken, nor blows exchanged. His eyes locked with hers, and for a moment, he believed he could see the tender heart of a mother beneath her sickness.

She rose from the ground, her limbs weakened from blood loss. Her eyes left his as she turned away. He watched her drag her near-lifeless body, perhaps to repent under a god.

As she disappeared into the snow, he swore he heard her speak.

"Goodbye."
