An old friend of Remilia's, Patchouli moved into the Sawspine Cliffs alongside the awkward "family" that she had long since joined. Alongside her came her immense collection of just about everything scholarly or magical: she has a particular penchant for knowledge, and hoards useless trivia rather than bits of treasure. After a bit of bickering and exchange, she today owns one of the most expansive libraries in the Scarred Wasteland, its halls a labyrinth of twists, turns and hidden rooms.

She is, perhaps, the essence of the "fragile magician" trope. Suffering from sickle-cell anemia and a sensitivity to dust, she rarely gets into anything all that adventurous despite her relative youth-- but where her body fails, her mind and magic excel. Her vast library seems to be an extension of her own magic, full of magical sentries, lesser familiars, and projects of her creation.. and that's nothing to say of her own incredible offensive mastery of the elements. This bleeds into the aerial nimbleness that allows her to get around her home: Patchouli practically floats and glides from step to step, magic crackling on every breath and flick of her tail.

Impressive as her collection and capabilities are, she's not the friendliest of dragons. Much of the time, she deeply prefers to be left to her own devices, to experiment and read and snuggle up to her mate, Koakuma. She writes an awful lot of letters to other clans, and so provides for a lot of communication in that sense, often arranging exchanges of scholarly or magical materials and goods. All the same, she's incredibly suspicious of strangers, and calls quite few a friend. Patchouli is intensely territorial and protective of her collection, loathing thieves above all else, and so accepts visitors very tentatively; one way to get on her good side is to offer her something for her collection before you go browsing. But, if you manage to catch her feeling well and you don't set off her suspicions, she can be fairly pleasant. She adores intellectual discussion of any kind, whether that's magic or history or philosophy, and can never say no to a game of chess.
