Karpan

Karpan was born to an odd union - the Fae Lyla, who was almost as much of a Nature Sprite as her own companion was, and the Guardian Krakitau, whose interest in industry and stubbornness caused a trail of choking smoke and gyres that made Lightning dragons laugh. He wouldn't follow either parent into their chosen fields, not that he was expected to. He would be an architect, spending some time on the lair's library before branching off on his own to spin whimsical spires and structures for Fae nests. Eventually he ventured to the Sea of a Thousand Currents to see what he could discover of the Fishspine Reef, knowing that the natural formations could be quite amazing.

It wasn't long before Karpan stumbled across the Clan of the Deep Echoes; initially he had asked them if he could stay a couple nights, a request that Leikan granted without a second thought. Once the Light Fae discovered that the Clan of the Deep Echoes was in almost constant contact with a Maren population, Karpan saw an opportunity that he could not ignore. Knowing that the merpeople also had a love for architecture, he begged Leikan to take him on as one of the members of the negotiation parties, saying he was eager to help in such a tense situation. Leikan knew what Karpan really wanted to do while among the Maren (the Fae constantly talked about architectural wonders around Sornieth), and was about to say no to Karpan's pleas. Thinking on it, though, the Guardian realized that having a dragon with a similar passion for edifices as the beastmen could be beneficial; he allowed the Fae to come with, telling him to only speak if absolutely necessary. While on these trips, Karpan has actually piqued the beastmens' curiosities somewhat, making for at least two or three interesting conversations between the two groups. Also while on these trips, Karpan grew close to Nakeia; while at first they were hesitant to approach one another with affection, after a few months they eventually announced themselves to be mates.

Karpan is definitely one who wishes for relations between the Clan of the Deep Echoes and the Maren population to become more positive, for he believes he could learn all sorts of secrets and tricks concerning his passion. While some would say he is naive if he thinks he should expect to find friends among the merpeople, he has with some confidence shrugged off some of these comments, making some wonder if he has actually already made a friend with a Maren...
