While it is quite unusual to see Shadow dragons with an affinity for natural pursuits, Ellis quite enjoys his days among plants, cultivating his plots with absolute care. To him, growing a beautiful garden is not so much a chore as it is a necessity to a happy life. To weave in and out of plants and feel the thrum of their life force in the jewel on his forehead brings him great joy. Even more joyful is the chance to share his endeavors with others. Frequently, Ellis invites other dragons to visit him among his leafy treasures, and he is beginning to garner a reputation for sending visitors away with a wave and a fat packet of herbs for no charge but their company.

But his pride and joy is not without its struggles. Winter is a harsh time for Ellis' pursuits, and the Tangled Wood is prone to early fall frosts that threaten his garden. During these times, Ellis can be irritable, even caustic, often at his wits end trying to protect his plants. It is at this point that his magical skills and inherent green thumb make themselves known, but without the undiluted blood of nature dragons, he cannot live up to his father's skill in keeping his passion alive in the dead of winter. As such, he is actively seeking a way out from the Tangled Wood, aiming to nest among the roots of the Behemoth with his beloved herbs.
