Biography
Lifemate Best Friend/Charge |
She was always secretly grateful to her mate, ShardXIII, that he felt it was unfair for her to be exalted to the Arcanist along with him. But defying a long tradition didn't go over very smoothly with the rest of her clan. So when her children, the clan's new rulers, asked for volunteers to leave the clan, she was among the first to go. She stayed within the Arcanist's territory, right on the boarder of the Icewarden's kingdom. Content with a small home. Content knowing her children were leading her previous clan to new glory. This was how she came to be in the right place at the right time to pull a nearly drowned Imperial out of the ocean. And how she decided to follow the young dragon in his journey across the world. Upon arriving at the Luna Clan's home, Monty immediately caught her eye. She noticed the way he looked at her and correctly guessed he was interested in her as well. So she waited... and waited... and waited.... Months after arriving in the clan, Goldoak began to realize that Monty was much to shy to be the first to begin a courtship. So she took it into her own claws to court him. He may not live up to the aspirations for greatness she had in her old clan, but he is kind, and she can see he has a heart of gold. After the heartache and backstabbing she went through in her old clan, Monty is all the dragon she could ever need. After a surprise reunion with a fragment of her previous clan, she was shocked to learn of the actions of her children. After learning of the clan's plight, and their exodus to the Sunbeam Ruins, she spoke with Shadesong, and the Luna Clan agreed to shelter the fragment of the Shard Clan until their wounds were healed and they could move on to rejoin the rest of their clan. She often longed for children with Montolio, and though they tried, none of them survived beyond adolescence. After the loss of their clutch, Goldoak took comfort in knowing she still had two children alive in the Arcanist's territory. So the news of her children's blasphemy and subsequent annihilation was hard on her. She became unsure if she would ever want children again, and threw herself into her duties to escape the depression she was rapidly sinking into. |

The only remaining niece of Northwoods.
She is a dragon with aspirations. She looks to her uncle and to early members of the Clan for information on what is necessary to be a mate of one of the Shards.
It baffles her that it is truly so simple as the Shard of the time choosing a mate. With so many candidates in the oncoming generation, it is proving difficult for her to make herself appealing.
After the events of Starfall, she is glad she didn't catch the attention of ShardV. She doesn't really want the attention of ShardVI either. She's hoping that the Starfall thing will blow over before she is chosen to be queen.
She is probably the dragon who most noticeably goes out of their way to ignore or show disdain for Kea.
When Enyi turned Rani down, her damaged pride led her to heightened aggression. Largely against Kea, though it also took the form of passive aggressiveness with Pistis and scathing words to Goldoak, who had previously greatly admired Rani.
This led to quite a bit of re-thinking on her part, and to her eventual snitching during the mediation with Peacetide. In the end, though she never said anything, Rani's pride did not allow her to be treated like a villain. She fought with her returned sister and was lost, which released the torrent of Turan's gossip, and everyone was glad to be rid of her.
Goldoak enjoyed the quiet of a lair without Rani. She had learned quite a bit from the experience, but even she knew she had been the lackey in that relationship. But now Rani was gone, and Goldoak was the better for it.
She rested her bones and wondered absently if ShardVII would be male.
