Biography

Chi
Mercenary
"I'm on my way to battle and glory!"

FAMILIAR: MANED RASA

Chi is a bandit. From birth she was uncontrollable, shrieking and clawing and stealing every shiny thing she could get her claws on. She took everything and hoarded it, attacking anyone who came close, even if they were her parents. After several of these incidents, she was left to her own devices. Content with this, she wandered the lair until she tumbled on the cache of beastclan trophies the clan kept hidden within it's deepest recesses. She looked at the battered shields and fragile swords, all monuments to past battles and she realised that this was what she wanted: to fight!

She went through all of the swords but couldn't find one that suited her until she dug through further and pulled out a large rusted cleaver. It had obviously come from another dragon rather than a beastclan. Pleased with herself, she lugged it around to show off and asked other dragons if they wanted to join her on her expedition. Where was she going, they asked? To travel the land and sea and sky, to fight! They studied her, over eager and full of anger, and they shook their heads. Well, whatever. She didn't really want their help anyway. She could do this herself. She pulled together some supplies and slipped out in the dead of night into a world that would prove itself to be far more unyielding than she expected.

Still not fully grown and dragging the heavy cleaver with her, Chi didn't make it far. Tired she managed to crawl into some dry coppice and fell asleep quickly. The next morning she got woken up from the rising sun and the sound of flapping wings. A familiar dragon was making their way through the sky of the Shifting Expanse, Okaaz, the diplomat of Clan Thanatos. Curious Chi grabbed her rusty weapon and ran after her.
She didn't know if Okaaz had noticed her or not; maybe she did, because whenever Chi was out of air, the skydancer landed and took a break until Chi was able to get up and follow her again.
Okaaz and her little pursuer continued their journey. The landscape changed; they had entered the territory of the Lightweaver, the Sunbeam Ruins. Chi couldn't stop marveling at her surroundings, everthing looked so different as in the Shifting Expanse. She would have stopped and spend more time with exploring this place, but Okaaz kept going. Soon the landscape started to change again, they came closer to the Tangled Wood.
They reached a place where the two territories met; Okaaz greeted a white mirror with a wolf pelt who was sitting on a rock close to a river. Chi noticed some kind of large island behind the river; it was surrounded by another river on the other side as well. The mirror nodded and together the two dragons crossed the river. Chi hurried up and nearly fell into the water because of her cleaver. She started to follow them through the lair, running from one hide-out to the next, until Okaaz and the mirror entered a building. Chi sat down and started to take a look around.

There were so many dragons; maybe one of them would like to join her on her mission? She saw hatchlings, both younger and older as herself, together with her parents; Chi couldn't help herself but felt sad, thinking about her parents she had left behind without a word. Were they angry with her? What would they say if she returned? Would they chase her away? Deep in her thoughts Chi didn't notice that someone was watching her. Only when she noticed some kind of prickling on her neck she turned around, but there was no one. She shivered and decided to go on, hopping again from one hide-out to the next. The feeling of being watched stayed. Now she ran, not caring if someone noticed her or not; until she crawled between some tilted over pillars which built some kind of cave. She was out of breath, but sure no one could find her; there wasn't much space for someone else in here.
But suddenly there was a voice. "If you don't want to be noticed, you have to learn how to be silent." Chi shrieked and jumped up. A dark purple ridgeback had moved one of the pillars away and was looking at her. "Don't come closer!", Chi screamed and grabbed her cleaver.
"Be careful who you point that thing at, kiddo.", the ridgeback snorted, but couldn't help herself and smiled a bit. "What's your name, kiddo?", she asked. "Chi.", Chi answered. "Hi Chi, my name is Nebula."
For the next few minutes they both said nothing; Nebula observed Chi and the guardian tried to act like she didn't care. "What brought you here anyway?", Nebula asked.
"I'm on my way to battles and glory.", Chi answered stroppy. The other dragon started to laugh; Chi turned her back on her. What a stupid dragon she was! When the ridgeback was able to breath regulary again, she looked at Chi and said "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have laughed." - "Yeah." Nebula tilt her head. "You still have to learn alot if you want to become a warrior." Chi turned back around to her, noisy what she had to say. "I bet Hotch could make a great guard out of you." - "I don't want to be a boring guard!" - "I see. I could help you with learning how to fight, but i'm not a warrior." - "What are you?", Chi asked curious and came closer. "I'm an assassin.", Nebula said. Chi tried to remember everything she got told about assassins. She had never thought about being something else than a warrior; but maybe being an assassin wasn't that bad, too? If she didn't like it she could still try something else afterwards. But now she had no clue where to go, and the ridgeback was right, she still had a lot to learn. Chi looked up into Nebulas face. "Could you teach me how to be an assassin please?", she asked. Nebula grinned. "Of course, kiddo. Let's get started right away."
