Name meaning: Gora (強羅) is a town of hills and hot springs located on a gently-sloping mountain in Hakone, one of Japan's leading hot spring resorts and also a tourist trap. The first kanji in his name (強) means "strong/strength" as well as "energy/might/intense."

He came from the Cloudscrape Crags of the Southern Icefield.

Gora had been wandering for a little more than a year before The Search brought him to the discovery of an abandoned Spiral hatchling (Yumoto) in The Hewn City of the Sunbeam Ruins. Thinking it a terrible place to leave one so young, Gora approached the distressed hatchling as carefully as he could so as not to frighten him further. The Spiral looked at him almost in awe rather than in fear and Gora knew instantly that this was his Charge whom he would gladly give his own blood to protect. Gora had always been a sort of gruff individual (in enthusiasm and in appearance), but he was able to gently reassure the hatchling that he would take care of him and make sure he was okay.

The two of them became quick companions and Yumoto came to think of Gora as his older brother, forgetting that he and Gora didn't come from the same parents. Gora didn't mind and was glad to assume the role of family that Yumoto needed of him. In fact, he thinks of Yumoto as his baby brother, too, and does his best to raise Yumoto well. They wandered together for a while until they ended up with the clan that they now consider home. Gora is happy to see that Yumoto is able to spend time around dragons closer to his age, though he keeps a close eye on them to make sure they're treating him well.

After some time, a Skydancer (Barakou) who seemed to know him joined the clan and started spending time with Yumoto. At first, Gora was unsure of why she seemed so familiar to him or why the things she said to him reminded him of a Guardian he had met before during his Search. He could have sworn that Guardian's name had been Morgan and that he had never met a Skydancer like this in all his travels. Until it finally dawned on him that they were one and the same dragon and she had managed to find the magic to change herself like she had told him she was looking for. In that moment, he realized that she had sought him out again after all this time just to show him that she had done it because she had no one else to show. He welcomed her into his makeshift family, offering her a home with him (and Yumoto), and eventually they became mates.

During his time in Haven, Gora settled into a comfortable routine. He had begun to find a relaxing past-time in gathering wood during his scavenging trips and using what he'd found to craft tools, armors, and defenses where they were needed. The need for those were few and far between when the clan was small, so he dabbled mostly in woodcarving accessories and playthings for the younger dragons to hone his skills in his downtime.

When Olofat was born and developed an interest in fire, he sought Gora out with a proposal to combine their skills and run a smithy. It was certainly an intriguing idea and, since the clan had grown quite significantly over the years, there were plenty more warriors about in need of such a service. And so, their partnership began and Goura signed on as a craftsman.
