Biography
Gale's Thoughts: Mayar
Mayar cares very little about anything.
It's not even practiced indifference, forced because of some traumatic event making him jaded to most things in life. He just is. Never in his entire life have I heard the words "I want" come out of his mouth.
He's horrible at conversations, even with his siblings (though, to be fair, they still include him as best they can, and by the way he follows them around during social gatherings you can tell he appreciates them). His den is filled with things that other people have brought him, and very little of his own personality shows through (or maybe the overwhelming presence of others is his personality).
But he looks at Elita and there's finally a flicker of something there, the hint of a smile or the beginnings of a laugh.
She's always taken him in stride, even when they were children. Because he doesn't much care, she can show him anything and everything she's interested in and get him to participate, which leads to them doing a lot of things together when Elita's not with her friends.
When she came back to the clan as a fae, rather than the ridgeback he'd grown up knowing, I think he was the only dragon she was extremely concerned about a reaction from besides her parents. But when she approached him, he only lowered his head to her new level and gestured for her to climb on so they could go to dinner like they did every day.
I've never seen a bigger smile on Elita's face; he didn't care that she'd changed. She was still Elita, the dragon he cared most about, and that was all he needed to know.
And sometimes, when I catch that small smile when he's watching her just go about her day, I wonder what about her cuts through everything else for dominance in his mind. I'm constantly amazed by it.
