Loyal To The End

Slag is the oldest dragon in Clan Lightblind. Found direly wounded by the fledgling Aleyris, then a young fae and novice healer. She nursed him back to health and once he was recovered, he declared her his Charge. He is a fierce warrior, and in the centuries of service to Lightblind he never met an equal on the open field of battle. He grew prideful and less watchful, certain of his ability to defeat any opponent. It was this lapse in judgement that allowed the beastclan raiding party to penetrate the clan’s territory and attack the weaker members of the clan. His charge, The Matriarch Aleyris, was among the dragons who were attacked. She and the others defended the clan as best they could, but eventually they were overwhelmed. Many dragons lost their lives that day, and though Aleyris did survive (which is a story for another day) she was gravely wounded and irrevocably blinded. Slag blames himself entirely for the tragedy, and has fiercely resumed his vigilant defense of the clan.
